Week Four Round-Up

We're at the end of Week Four in the Tech Challenge, and we hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. With 2007 right around the corner, it's the perfect time to make a New Year's resolution: get a little more exercise, pick up a new hobby...perhaps complete the TECH CHALLENGE by February 13?!

Four weeks into the Challenge and we're still going strong. There are 88 people participating with new folks added each week, and several folks have already completed this week's Photo/Video Sharing mission. Hopefully, this experience is proving to be a valuable- and fun- way to learn about new technologies and their applications to your professional and personal lives. Keep up the good work, and have a great New Year!

Wiki Week

We’re in the third week of the Tech Challenge and many of you have already completed your assignment to learn about wikis. We hope this mission helped give you an understanding of the collaborative concept behind wikis.

As we are right in the middle of the holiday season, many of you are being challenged to find the time to complete these missions. Hopefully, the time off for the holidays will afford you the opportunity to join in on the challenge if you have not, or complete some of the missions you just haven’t had time for yet. Don’t forget, the only deadline for completing the missions is Feb 13, if you want to be eligible for the contest prizes.

We hope you all enjoy your time off for the next few days. Happy Holidays from ETC!

It's Catching On!

Wow – there are now about 70 RCPL staff members competing in the Tech Challenge! We’ve enjoyed reading your posts – you’ve got some great ideas on how you and the library can use blogs and RSS. By the way – did everyone see the Staff Association blog? http://staffassociation06.blogspot.com/

This week’s mission included learning about and setting up an RSS aggregator and subscribing to some feeds. Several of you have already completed this mission. Now that you’ve had some time to use your aggregator, have you found it useful? Let us know by commenting here.

We hope you’re enjoying the contest. We’d love to hear your feedback. Feel free to post your comments and questions here.

Get ready for the Week 3 Mission! Instructions will be released Monday, December 18.

5 Days In!

We’re just 5 days into the Tech Challenge and so far about 50 of you have already completed the first mission and created your own blog – you are well on your way to being eligible for a chance to win one of our great prizes! We’ve enjoyed reading your posts and hope you are having fun with your blogs.

Don’t worry if you have not yet had time to complete this first mission – it doesn’t have to be done this week. To be eligible for the prize drawing, just make sure you complete all 10 of the Tech Challenge missions by the Feb 13, 2007 deadline.

We hope you’re looking forward to receiving instructions for the second mission, to be released Monday, December 11. It's a good one!

Keep up the great work!
